History
 
Inspired by Mark A. Williams, who prior to his current position, as Executive Director at Team FOOTPRINTZ, Inc d/b/a FOOTPRINTZ Basketball Academy, served as a Coordinator of Security, Community Based Organization Coordinator, and Special Education Teacher at August Martin High School (Jamaica, NY) for fifteen (15) years.   In addition, serving as the school's Athletic Director and Head Girl's Basketball Coach, Mark always wanted to reach "at risk" students in a non academic setting.  Upon retiring from NYC's Department of Education, Mark spearheaded a relationship with various schools within the NYC area as well as a relationship with Fordham University.  This partnership allowed Mark and Footprintz Basketball Academy to use sport namely basketball as a tool to thwart obesity issues and self image issues.  In addition, through the relationship provided Mark the opportunity to serve as a Mental Health Coordinator for adolescent "at risk" students throughout the greater New York City area. 
 
The TEAM
 
As products of New York City our staff has seen the "at risk" and "unmotivated" youth of NYC struggle to live up to expectations largely due to the lack (or absence)  of their support network.   As a result, it is our belief that with the right environment, encouragement, basketball and  life skill development, our youth can excel in the classroom. 
 
Success is an objective phrase, however in assisting today's youth in morphing into better individuals our goal is to empower them to become change agents in their community.  The lessons learned from our program go beyond the score of the game, the fancy passes and the dunks instead the experiences gained from our program will be remembered for a lifetime. Ultimately, this is the true measure of success.
